Functional Tests
As a Nutritional Therapist I have access to a wide range of comprehensive laboratory tests. These allow us to investigate much more deeply into the root cause or causes of your symptoms. Unlike tests from your doctor, we have access to hundreds of different biomarkers to assess your health more comprehensively.
Why test?
Find out the root causes quicker and eliminate any guesswork
More targeted protocols and support for you
Quicker results and impact for you
Functional Tests I Commonly Use
This innovative and comprehensive stool test gives us a window into your entire digestive system - which we know is the source of good health. 70% of our immune system lives in our gut, so it’s essential to get things functioning optimally. Key markers include
Your balance of healthy and harmful bacteria
Parasitic infections
Bacterial infections
Inflammation
Ability to digest and absorb nutrients
Gut lining function (leaky gut)
Immune system markers
Who benefits?
The easy answer is, almost everyone! But specifically, anyone who experiences…
Bloating
Gas
Abdominal pain
Food sensitivities
IBS (constipation or diarrhoea)
Reflux/heartburn
Eczema or other skin conditions
Mood disorders (anxiety or depression)
Autoimmunity
Genova Diagnostics SIBO breath test
This simple at-home breath test allows us to see if Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) is one of the root causes of your IBS, bloating, gas, constipation and discomfort.
The test allows us to see which type of bacteria may be overgrowing in your small intestine - excessive hydrogen producers, methane producers, or a mixture of both. This will then inform your unique antimicrobial gut healing protocol.
Who benefits from doing a SIBO breath test?
This test is extremely useful (and often essential) for anyone suffering regularly with:
Bloating
Excessive gas
Reflux
Upper abdominal cramping/pain
Chronic constipation
IBS
Diarrhoea
Dyspepsia
This is the gold standard test for food allergy and sensitivity testing. It’s a simple at-home finger prick test which looks at 4 different immune responses to 88 different foods - IgE, IgG, IgG4, and C3d.
This test helps us to identify and address food allergies and food sensitivities in patients with chronic illness. Overt IgE-mediated food allergies can lead to hives, anaphylaxis, or digestive issues. while delayed food sensitivities (IgG and IgG4) are linked to sinus problems, acne, gas, bloating, fatigue, constipation, autism, irritable bowel syndrome, and even depression. Identifying and eliminating food sensitivities can also assist in the healing of intestinal permeability.
Who would benefit?
In our free discovery call, I will advise you if I recommend getting this test based on your symptoms. However, common symptoms linked to food sensitivities include:
Diarrhoea and loose stools
Constipation
Gas and bloating
Heartburn/reflux
Rashes/eczema
Joint pain and inflammation
Headaches or migraine
IBS
Acne
Poor sleep
Depression
Clear malabsorption of vitamins and minerals

Thyroglobulin Antibodies
Thyroid Peroxidase
Free Thyroxine
Free T3
TSH
Ferritin
Vitamin D
Folate
Active Vitamin B12
CRP HS

I typcially use this with clients who have multiple and complex chronic symptoms or illnesses, such as
Chronic fatigue
Long COVID
Post viral syndrome
