Building a Resilient Workforce From the Inside Out
Before becoming a Nutritional Therapist, I spent 10 years working in corporate consultancy and frequently saw colleagues suffering from burnout, or silently trying to cope with chronic health conditions. As a Nutritional Therapist, I specialise in gut health - a crucial and often overlooked root cause of the under-performance, poor mental health, and chronic health conditions I witnessed. I’ve now helped 100+ women and men transform their health through my individual protocols, and impacted hundreds more through the organisations I partner with.
Gut health is foundational to sustainable productivity. By working with me to support gut function, organisations can reduce employee burnout, improve cognitive performance, and promote long-term health across their teams. My work bridges the gap between individual health and organisational performance — helping companies retain top talent and maintain a diverse and healthy leadership pipeline.
Why Gut health?
The digestive system plays a central role in regulating:
Energy, focus, and sleep
Stress resilience and emotional regulation
Immunity, inflammation, and recovery
Hormone balance across life stages - fertility, menopause, and andropause
Nutrient absorption — the basis of physical and mental stamina.
When gut health is compromised, the impact is systemic. Employees may appear to be tired, disengaged, or underperforming while actually grappling with chronic health issues of fatigue, IBS, anxiety, or brain fog.
“I started working with Ellie to address some longstanding gut issues and I can honestly say I’ve never felt so confident that my digestive system is now in the best place! I’ve experienced fewer energy crashes and brain fog. I really trust Ellie, she is very knowledgeable and experienced and can deliver great results.”
Why Now?
Most corporate wellbeing strategies focus on mental health - through therapy access, resilience training, or mindfulness apps. And that’s good, but few address the physical foundations that enable these strategies to work.
Gut health is directly connected to:
- gut-brain axis, which regulates stress, focus, and mood
- microbiome, which influences immunity, metabolism, and hormone regulation
- Recovery and resilience, especially in fast-paced, high-stress roles.
Gut health is a silent performance variable. When it’s not addressed, businesses risk persistent burnout, rising health-related absences, and the quiet attrition of experienced team members.
The Scientific Evidence
Due to the roles of the microbiome and gut-brain axis, research now links gut imbalances to a wide range of performance-limiting issues:
- Poor stress tolerance and recovery
- Brain fog and low motivation
- Hormonal challenges (e.g., menstrual disruption, menopause symptoms, fertility stress)
- Sleep disturbances and energy crashes
- Immune vulnerability and slow illness recovery
- The systemic effects of increasing food allergies and intolerances.
These often present as vague or unexplained symptoms in the workplace — but they are measurable, addressable, and reversible with the type of support that I offer.
The Business Case
In a recent survey, 100% of my clients and community said they’d feel more valued if their employer offered services like mine. That sense of being seen and supported translates directly into performance. This work really matters because right now:
79% of UK employees experience burnout, with 35% reporting high or extreme levels of stress(1).
Digestive disorders like IBS are a leading cause of time off work (2).
80% of women experience hormone-related symptoms that affect their ability to perform at work (3).
Up to 40% of long-term sick leave is linked to stress, gut health, and mental health concerns (4).
By partnering with me to proactively support digestive health, your organisation will benefit from these tangible outcomes:
Increased productivity and mental clarity
Reduced burnout, absenteeism, and presenteeism
Greater engagement, morale, and team cohesion
Enhanced retention, particularly of mid-career and senior talent
Long-term cost savings through lower health-related disruption
Healthy gut → healthier teams → stronger business performance.
““I was confident Ellie could give our community real value in terms of education and actionable steps they could incorporate into their daily lives. She did this and more. Ellie made the sessions interesting and engaging, she debunked myths and provided clarity on issues many of our employees were struggling with. I certainly have learnt a lot and implement the changes into my own routine. Several of our colleagues have gone on to work with Ellie on a one to one basis and have reported significant improvements in their health””
